Property Sales Leap Ahead

Transaction levels are on the way up throughout the country. Good news for those wanting to sell - property transaction numbers are on the increase.
Coming off the back of a period when too many properties were on the market most states are now showing increased transaction levels.
According to figures from RP Data in the three months to January, Sydney recorded the highest number of property sales with 22,005 properties changing hands — that’s about 240 properties a day.
Nationally property sales were up by 13.1 per cent in the three months to January with 81,879 houses changing hands and 29,575 units.
In Sydney house sales were up 21 per cent for the three months to January compared to the same period the previous year.
There were also 13,603 units sold, up 10.2 per cent.
Brisbane also recorded a 21 per cent increase in house sales with 7742 changing hands in the three month period, and 2982 units.
There were 18,786 property sales in Melbourne, 13,045 of those houses. House sales were up by 10 per cent and units sales jumped by a significant 17 per cent.
In Perth there were 9717 property sales for the three months, 8044 of those houses.
The number of house sales only increased marginally compared with the same period last year, up 0.2 per cent. The number of unit sales dropped by 8.8 per cent.
